Friends of Wharfedale Greenway at Otley Green Fair 2026
Friends of Wharfedale Greenway were delighted to attend Otley Green Fair 2026 at Otley Courthouse – and what a fantastic day it turned out to be. Despite a few lively rain showers, the event was extremely well attended, with a steady stream of visitors keen to learn more about the Wharfedale Greenway and the progress being made.
Community interest stronger than ever
Throughout the day, our volunteers spoke with people from across Wharfedale – walkers, cyclists, families, commuters, and residents who simply want to see safer, greener connections between our towns. Many visitors came specifically to ask for an update on the project, reflecting just how much local enthusiasm continues to grow.
We heard from:
- People eager for a safe, traffic‑free route between Burley, Otley, and Ilkley
- Residents wanting to know the latest planning steps and timescales
- Supporters offering to volunteer, write to councillors, or help spread the word
- Newcomers discovering the Greenway for the first time and excited by its potential
Our display boards, maps, and route information sparked lots of thoughtful conversations — and plenty of “I hope it gets built soon!”
A positive day for local sustainability
Otley Green Fair once again proved why it’s such an important event for our community. From environmental groups to local makers, repair cafés, wildlife organisations, and active travel advocates, the Courthouse was buzzing with ideas and energy.
We were proud to stand alongside so many groups working toward a more sustainable, connected, and climate‑friendly Wharfedale.
